In a new study assigned by Facebook, Funka wants to find out how augmented and virtual reality can help persons with disabilities – and you can contribute by responding to a brief survey.
Augmented and virtual reality technologies have developed rapidly in recent years. Once the stuff of science fiction, AR and VR are now used in a variety of real-world settings, such as entertainment, manufacturing and research. The field of active and healthy ageing (AHA) is particularly fertile ground for innovation, with AR and VR solutions being used for rehabilitation, social inclusion and independent living.
Such innovation may also benefit another target group in particular: persons with disabilities. Now, on assignment from Facebook, Funka is investigating how AR and VR can benefit this group. Funka wants to know what’s already on the market, what’s under development, and what’s on the horizon. Which persons with disabilities benefit from AR and VR, and how?
As one step towards answering these questions, Funka is conducting a short online survey. The survey asks about:
- …your experience with AR and VR for persons with disabilities.
- …your thoughts on how persons with disabilities can benefit from AR and VR
Funka wants to hear from a broad range of stakeholders, including researchers, industry actors, start-ups, end user organisations and care professionals.
The results will be included in a written report later this year, bringing disability-inclusive AR and VR innovation to the attention of one of the biggest actors in the field. If you would like your work to figure in this report, follow the link below to access the survey.
